The Diplo-produced “Climax” is my favorite Usher song since his Confessions album, and I’ve been shamelessly playing it over and over again for the past few weeks. The song finally received a visual accompaniment today, and it features Usher facing alternate realities in what I’d describe as Groundhog Day meets Source Code.
If you’re a fan of good music you must be a fan of Frank Ocean. The unofficial version of “Thinking About You” leaked last year and it was one of my favorite songs of 2011, and now we have the official version for radio play (unfortunately tagged). Be on the lookout for Nostalgia, Lite which should be dropping soon.[audio http://www.fileden.com/files/2012/2/22/3268542/Frank_Ocean-Thinking_About_You_%5BOfficial_Version%5D-2dope.mp3]
Now, Now is a band from Minneapolis, MN that is formerly known as Now, Now Every Children. They’re not a new band, but up until yesterday I hadn’t even heard of them. After reading up on their backstory I came to find out that they’re supported by the likes of Chris Walla (of Death Cab for Cutie) and they have a new album coming out tomorrow (March 6th) called Threads. I’ve listened to the album on Spotify and can honestly say that Now, Now is one of the best new bands I’ve heard in a while.
I love The Weeknd. Everyone else loves Drake. You don’t know it yet, but after you hear this song you’ll love Shlohmo, too. The Weeknd asked for an official version of this song over on his Tumblr a few days ago, and now Shlohmo provides us with the track via his Soundcloud. You can stream the song down below or head here to download it.
Everyone knows that Sunday mornings suck. As a college student, I can tell you that there is nothing worse than realizing that the weekend is almost over and tomorrow you have to get up for that dreaded 8am lecture. Fortunately for us, Frank Ocean put up a new track called “Voodoo” over on his Tumblr for all of us to enjoy on this beautiful morning.[audio http://www.fileden.com/files/2012/1/2/3246123//Voodoo.mp3]
The Hood Internet is known for their perfectly executed mash-ups, and this one has M83’s hit “Midnight City” paired with Mayer Hawthorne’s “No Strings”. If you aren’t familiar with “Midnight City”, shame on you. It was one of the best songs of the summer of last year, and it was even featured in a Victoria’s Secret commercial.
