Do you ever fixate on one album and have it pretty much become the soundtrack to a certain part of your life? For me, Cults‘ debut album was played every single day of last summer. The band recently went on tour, and Pitchfork caught up with them on the first night to interview them and record a live performance of “You Know What I Mean.”
The Diplo-produced “Climax” is my favorite Usher song since his Confessions album, and I’ve been shamelessly playing it over and over again for the past few weeks. The song finally received a visual accompaniment today, and it features Usher facing alternate realities in what I’d describe as Groundhog Day meets Source Code.
I’ll be the first person to tell you that I didn’t really start listening to LCD Soundsystem until last summer. That said, I fell in love with their music after reading articles about their last concert at Madison Square Garden. I was devastated when I realized that I would never be able to experience the magic that occurs at their concerts. Then, out of nowhere I catch wind that there is going to be a documentary about the band’s final moments and the dark cloud was instantly lifted. Pitchfork says we’ll be getting details about the release of Shut Up and Play the Hits on April 2nd, but if you’re like me and can’t wait you can whet your appetite with the clip below.
If you’re a fan of good music you must be a fan of Frank Ocean. The unofficial version of “Thinking About You” leaked last year and it was one of my favorite songs of 2011, and now we have the official version for radio play (unfortunately tagged). Be on the lookout for Nostalgia, Lite which should be dropping soon.[audio http://www.fileden.com/files/2012/2/22/3268542/Frank_Ocean-Thinking_About_You_%5BOfficial_Version%5D-2dope.mp3]
Unless you’ve been asleep for the past week you probably know that K.R.I.T. finally dropped his 4eva N a Day mixtape. Today we are blessed with the first official video for the project, and it’s directed by the amazing Va$htie so you should probably check it out.
Ro Ransom is on a roll right now. He’s about to release his much anticipated mixtape Ransomnia which should be out any day now, and yesterday he premiered the video for his new song “Limousine”. The video is directed by Mike Carson and Mike Waxx (of illroots) who also directed the video for Big Sean’s “Dance (A$$)”. Look out for Ransomnia and check out the new video below (watch it in HD).
